The Economic and Social Council confirmed membership of The Ethiopian World Federation in the United Nations at its July 2002 Session in New York City. The EWF was granted Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC and proposes to send a delegation of Scientists to Shashamanne, Ethiopia to plan a Self-Sustaining Model Community on the Shashamanne Land Grant. For more information about Shashamanne and the goal to completely develop a Model City in Ethiopia, that is to serve as an example for all other African Countries, visit our public meetings held each Sunday from 3-7pm at the Paul Robeson Center, 54 Green Avenue, in Brooklyn.
African Americans guided by His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie First, when Colonial Fascist invaders threatened Ethiopia’s independence, created the Ethiopian World Federation during the 1930’s in Harlem, New York. The EWF is an organization dedicated to the freedom and independence of Africa, and the cause of right, justice and full opportunity for black peoples everywhere.
Because there is a necessity to educate the general public in a clear and compelling manner of the need to secure justice for the Ancestors of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, The Ethiopian World Federation has created an International Essay Writing Contest. The essay of no more than 1500 words should focus on re-visiting slavery days and use that re-visit to “Improve Race Relations”. The winning essay will be presented to the United Nations in New York for recommended implementation.
Please submit all entries on audiocassette accompanied by the hard copy to the address above. Also, please include your name, address, telephone number and age. The essays will be grouped into the following categories: Ages 8-12, and 13-18, as well as the Open Category for adults and others. A winner will be chosen from each category. All entries must be received before July 16, 2003.
The Ethiopian World Federation, Incorporated, held its Annual Convention at the Sundial Healing and Learning Center, Bronx, New York, from July 16 – 21, 2002. During Convention, speakers from various Locals throughout the Diaspora and Africa were featured. Election of International Officers and Directors took place to fill seats on the Executive Council, which is the Board of Directors.
