January Blues Dance

A celebratory evening of discussion, poetry, and lectures by three esteemed, original thinkers. Miguel Cullen, whose poetry has been described as “arresting, streetsmart ventriloquism” (TLS), will lead the evening. Speakers will include both journalist Ian Thomson, author of the controversial The Dead Yard: Tales of Modern Jamaica (praised by both Benjamin Zephaniah and Zadie Smith), and Colin Grant, author of books about Marcus Garvey (Negro With A Hat), Bob Marley and The Wailers (I and I The Natural Mystics), and a highly acclaimed autobiographical work exploring Black British identity in the 1970s (Bageye at the Wheel). Discussion will be rich and free flowing.

Followed by music. Float downstream on a mix of poetry, travelogue, history to beat back those January shivers.

This event is free, but please RSVP: Babette@thesocietyclub.com
