Session #5 @Shoreditch

“Session #5 @ Shoreditch- a monthly night showcasing roots reggae selectors powered by Westway Roots and New Era Reggae Soundsystems. Each session features a different guest selector on each sound as well as the residents playing revival/ roots, rocksteady, dancehall, steppas in a friendly fashion. 2 scoop stack each….

After Ramon Judah brought the vibes for the September session, we are pleased to have Diverse Collective come and play some records with New Era Reggae Sound System. Diverse Collective will see selector Charly Bendjy (former member Dub-ital, Italy) and the return of MC Singer Ramon Judah (Ramon Deen) to Shoreditch. Charly Bendje is an experienced selector who has performed with Mad Professor and Lee Scratch Perry. MC/singer Ramon Judah is a former member of Reggae Roast and has recently been providing fyah on the mic at Channel One dances. The man needs no further introduction.

Westway Roots Sound System will be joined by the Roots & Culture Warrior Ras Terry Gad ( member of Channel One Soundsystem/ Jah Trinity Soundsystem). Ras Terry founded Jah Trinity Sound way back in 1981 with brother Milton Westcarr. The sound was first called Lord Demonstrator and from 1981 – 1985 they played all kinds of roots music, rockers, rub-a-dub & soul to please the people. In 1986 they changed the name of the sound to Jah Trinity Outernational playing only strictly roots and culture. Since then Jah Trinity had played with other sound systems in the roots & culture scene such as Jah Shaka, Jah Tubby, Iration Steppers, Aba Shanti I, Jah Observer amongst a few. Ras Terry Gad was the dub selector and Milton Naphtali was the engineer and operator. Ras Terry Gad has since been a part of Channel One Soundsystem and has selected across Europe and the UK in his own right. The session is the day after Ras Terry’s birthday. Come and join the celebrations.
