Ivory Coast hosts Rastafari Conference

The Hotel Djigui in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire was the venue for the 1st Rastafari Continental Council (RCC) conference of member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The Rastafari communities in the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Liberia, Burkina Faso and Gabon were represented.

It was decided at this conference that the newly formed sub-regional Council would be chaired annually by the host country. The Ivory Coast representative will be chair until the next sub-regional conference is held in Lagos, Nigeria September 23 to 26, 2020. It was also decided that the Ivory Coast Culture Commission would facilitate the release of a compilation album. The event included a performance showcase featuring several reggae artists, including Spyrow, Aimann Raad and Raad Threes from the Ivory Coast.
