I an I dat trust in de most high Qedamawi Haile Selassie shall be like Mt. Zion which cannot be moved but abideth for iver and iver, Selah Amlak!!!
I an I of the Caribbean Rastafari Organization (CRO) welcome the report emanating from the Rastafari All Mansion Indigenous Repatriation gathering in October 2013 at the UWI. However there are some unfounded issues reported by the secretary Jr. Negus which the CRO’s secretariat would like to correct.
The secretary Mr. Linford Whyte (Jr. Negus) reported: “We have seen where umbrella organs have been put in place by individuals for the past 15 yrs operating as Ras Tafari Caribbean Organization, including Jamaica without any report on their activities to the families here in JA, yet this organization has been accessing monetary assistance from the UN on our behalf. These kinds of administration will have to cease abruptly if we are going to progress as a family.”
I, Bongo Wisely Tafari (Burnet Sealy), present chairman of the CRO would like to categorically deny that the CRO has accessed any monetary assistance from the UN on behalf of the Rastafari family. THIS IS FALSE AND FAR FROM THE TRUTH. The secretary (Jr. Negus) has been to Barbados on numerous occasions and knows quite well what transpired and is only being mischievous by trying to implicate the CRO.
The funds referred to by the secretary was accessed by brothers and sisters of the Mt. Carmel Nyahbinghi House in Barbados (Cornerstone Project) and not by the CRO. I thought that this matter had been clarified a long time ago. Brother secretary, de I knows better than that!
The present CRO started as the Eastern Caribbean Rastafari Working Committee (ECRWC) in July 1997, at the International Rastafari Conference held in St. Croix, USVI. Following the International Rastafari Conference, Trade Fair and Cultural Expo held in Barbados, August 1998, the ECRWC was elevated to the status of a well structured organization, Eastern Caribbean Rastafari Organization (ECRO).
The areas of operation were to cover the islands of the eastern Caribbean regions. Jamaica was never part of the jurisdiction of the ECRO which later on had to change its name from ECRO to CRO because we were receiving membership interests from Rastafari families residing outside of the eastern Caribbean region. eg. The Francophoni islands of Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Martin; US states of Puerto Rico, Tortola, St. Croix, St. Thomas etc also regions from the South American mainland like Guyana and Suriname. The CRO has always seen the Millennium Council (MC) as its bigger brother within the realms of All Mansions Unification initiative, and has maintained a good working relationship with the MC.
I must say that since the secretariat has moved to St. Lucia, communication is proving to be one of our biggest challenges. The fact that the CRO operates strictly from a voluntary standpoint makes it even more challenging. The secretariat has been sharing information with a number of bredren and sistren from Jamaica including Ras Flako (Fitzroy Floyd) via Nyahbinghiancientorder@yahoo.com.
I an I have no intentions of leaving any one outside of the loop in terms of information sharing. These are areas that we have to improve on as we move forward. In light of the spirit of REPARATIONS, now in the air, Rastafari, as one of the main advocates for REPATRIATION with REPARATIONS must be able to reconcile our differences and come together as one to make our Repatriation a success.
“All for One and One for All; working together in such manner, there can be no failure.” HIM
