PRESS RELEASE

Greetings In The name Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ Who Revealed Himself To Us In The Personality of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I.

Dr. Vernon Carrington, affectionately known around the world as the Prophet Gad, passed away in his sleep at about 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, March 22, 2005 at his home at 164 Old Hope Road, Kingston, Jamaica.

The founder and leader of The Twelve Tribes of Israel in Jamaica at 7 Davis Lane, Trench Town, Kingston 12 since 1968, Brother Gad had been ailing for several months.

Funeral arrangements for Brother Gad are set for Thursday, April 7, 2005. The body of the Prophet Gad will lie in state at the headquarters of The Twelve Tribes of Israel in Kingston, Jamaica, 81-83 Hope Road from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2005. The memorial service will be held at 81-83 Hope Road after which interment will take place at the Dovecot Cemetery, St. Catherine. Members and well wishers of The Twelve Tribes of Israel are asked to wear their own tribe colour on the day of the funeral.

The Twelve Tribes of Israel's wishes and prayers are with the family and friends of Brother Gad and we extend to them our deepest condolences.

May his soul rest in peace in the arms of Jah, Rastafari, Selassie I.

THE ETHIOPIAN WORLD FEDERATION INC. LAST REMAINING 3 HECTARES OF ORIGINAL 200-HECTARE LAND GRANT IS BEING VIOLATED. 

With the backdrop of the ongoing "Africa Unite" Bob Marley Foundation Musical Extravaganza in Ethiopia, one would have thought that every thing is O.K. with the RasTafarI Community living in Shashamane. This is the Land granted to Black People of the World through the ETHIOPIAN WORLD FEDERATION INC. in 1948 as a way of saying thank you for the assistance rendered to Ethiopia by Black People of the World during the Italian Fascist invasion of 1935-41. Nothing could be further from the truth! Despite extensive efforts by the Federation to develop these remaining 3 Hectares, such as engaging Consulting Architects & Planners, who have produced schematics, indicating state of the Art commercial development, in line with the Shashamane Master plan, and identifying members of the Federation internationally, willing to invest the necessary finance, this remnant piece of Land is being encroached & speculated on. The morning of January 14th 2005, the Community witnessed the entry into their fenced area adjacent to the main road, of Grader Machines & low Loaders leveling off the topsoil on land possessed by the Federation for over 57 years. These lands have been cultivated during this period, but now that the City limits of the Town have been extended to include these areas, the Local Authorities had promised the Federation that they would be given the priority as Land Holders to develop these lands. The prepared schematics indicate Shopping Plaza's, Fine Arts Center, Fuel Gas Station, offices, Banks and Restaurants etc. An area has also been identified at a convenient junction on the main high way from Addis Ababa to Awassa for the positioning of monuments for His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I and the Right Honorable Robert Nesta Marley. We wonder where these monuments will now be placed?

In response to the above, the Federation is continuing to appeal to the Supreme Head of Oromia Region Urban Development & the Oromo President. Consequently, appeals have also been forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the Prime Minister's Office of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, (FDRE). We hope that they will intervene & put a stop to what we believe is a great injustice.

The Federation was granted, Special Consultative Status by the UN Economic & Social Council, thus entitling the organization to 1,500 words for expressing its proposed solution for improving Human Race Relations. A section of the Federations application to the UN focuses on its intention to build a self-sustaining model community in Shashamane. The schematics produced indicate the 1st phase of the establishment of the Model City.

So with all the hype surrounding the "Africa Unite Musical Extravaganza", and considering what the RasTafarI community has brought in terms of benefits to Ethiopia, why is it that such injustice is being committed? As the words of Bob Marley's music ring out over Ethiopia to "Get Up, Stand Up, & don't give up the fight" the Federation is determined to halt this encroachment upon its heritage and is prepared to do what ever is necessary for its protection. Please help us to continue to help Ethiopia in her much longed for development. These last remaining 3 hectares of land are of great historical, cultural & sentimental importance, not only to the RasTafarI community in Ethiopia but also to all Black people throughout the Diaspora.

After 7 months of planning, centralizing and organizing a team of five Executives of the InIversal RasTafarI Community Co-operative (IRASCOM) held historic meetings in Jamaica from August 25th-30th, 2004 to introduce the IRASCOM Proposal to the leaders of Rastafari mansions. The InIversal RasTafarI Community Cooperative was formed as an organization geared towards the development of the "InIfied Sovereign Nation of RasTafarI", the economic and social development of our people, the re-education of Rastas and the public, Repatriation and Reparations and the academic and technical progression of our people.

 

Since our troddings to Jamaica , we have put together and are now prepared to release a complete and detailed trip report. InI want to personally apologize to the delay, as ones have been emailing, calling, and posting concerning when the report will become available. Overstand that the delay to release the report was an executive decision, as we have been met with natural disasters, numerous developments and meeting that were held within our community, and we now feel the season is best for ones to fully grasp our report.

This might be the closest we could come to a general strike in this country (USA) and could be powerful symbolically if it were wide spread... 
Not One Damn Dime Day - Jan 20, 2005. 
PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR AND SPREAD THE WORD! 

Since our religious leaders will not speak out against the war in Iraq, since our political leaders don't have the moral courage to oppose it, Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th, 2005 is "Not One Dime Day" in America. On "Not One Dime Day" is for those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending. 

During "Not One Dime Day" please don't spend money. 
Not one dime for gasoline. 
Not one dime for necessities or for impulse purchases. 
Not one dime for anything for 24 hours. 

On "Not One Dime Day," please boycott Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target etc... 
Please don't go to the mall or the local convenience store. 
Please don't buy any fast food (or any groceries at all for that matter). F

or 24 hours, please do what you can to shut the retail economy down. The object is simple. Remind the people in power that the war in Iraq is immoral and illegal; that they are responsible for starting it and that it is their responsibility to stop it. 
"Not One Dime Day" is to remind them, too, that they work for the people of the United States of America, not for the international corporations and lobbyists who represent the corporations and funnel cash into American politics. 
"Not One Dime Day" is about supporting the troops. The politicians put the troops in harm's way. Now 1,200 brave young Americans and (some estimate) 100,000 Iraqis have died. The politicians owe our troops a plan -- a way to come home. 
There's no rally to attend. No marching to do. No left or right wing agenda to rant about. 
On "Not One Dime Day" you take action by doing nothing. 
You open your mouth by keeping your wallet closed. 

For 24 hours, nothing gets spent, not one dime, to remind our religious leaders and our politicians of their moral responsibility to end the war in Iraq and give America back to the people.
