Petition For The United Nations To Declare An International Day Honoring His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I

BACKGROUND TO THE PETITION

HOW DID THIS COME ABOUT

The proposed Proclamation of a United Nations International Day for His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I is based on the Inspired Vision of Bishop Ras Denroy Morgan, Ambassador to the Rastafari Community and Founder of the Abrahamic Covenant Family Ministry.

Bishop Denroy shared his vision with The President of the Ethiopian World Federation, Inc., Bishop G. Eveta Morrison (Sista Gem Askale Mariam) who agreed to support and help promote this righteous cause on behalf of the Officers and Members of the Federation. The Ethiopian World Federation is a Not-for-Profit 501(C)4 membership organization which was ordained by His Imperial Majesty and established in New York in 1937 with a Constitution for “We, the Black Peoples of the World.”

Bishop Morgan was appointed Ambassador to the RasTafari Community in 1998 by The Ethiopian Orthodox Coptic Church of North and South America which was based in Harlem, New York. He is a member of the RasTafari mansion, the Twelve Tribes of Israel; he is a member of the Ethiopian World Federation, Incorporated, and is the Founder of The Abrahamic Covenant Family Ministries which espouses that Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Rastafari are all connected as a family as all are heirs to the Abrahamic Covenant.

Bishop Morgan is also an accomplished performer who had an international R&B hit in 1981 “I’ll do Anything for You.” He is also the father to the Grammy-winning family group Morgan Heritage.

Incidentally, both Bishop Morgan and Bishop Morrison are originally from Jamaica.

The Ethiopian World Federation is a 501(C)4 Membership organization which enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations – ECOSOC. The organization was Incorporated in New York City in 1937 on Ecclesiastical Orders of His imperial Majesty after Italy had invaded Ethiopia and the Emperor and Empress were living in exile in Bath, England.

At the request of citizens of Harlem who traveled to England in 1936 to discuss matters related to fund-raising for the war effort with the Emperor (Italy had invaded Ethiopian in 1935), HIs Majesty empowered his cousin and personal physician, Dr Malaku Emmanuel Bayen who had received his Medical degree at Howard University, to return to the USA to establish the organization, working alongside the citizens of Harlem.

The EWF, Inc was incorporated in New York in 1937 and given the responsibility to oversee all fundraising for the war effort and played a key role in providing financial support for Ethiopian refugees in the neighbouring countries where they had fled to escape the chemicals (mustard gas) being rained down on them, their land and waters by the Italians. Ethiopia suffered a severe Holocaust in which the European powers turned their backs on the Emperor as he sought Justice for his country in a failed appeal to the League of Nations – a world body that preceded what is now the United Nations.
