Chris Lane began writing on reggae in Blues & Soul in 1973, making his first trip to Jamaica that same year, spending his eighteenth birthday at the newly built Black Ark studio co-writing a song with Lee ’Scratch’ Perry and Bob Marley, as well as conducting trail-blazing interviews with Big Youth, Augustus Pablo, Keith Hudson, Dennis Brown, Bunny Lee and Coxsone Dodd. He contributed to Melody Maker, NME, Let It Rock, Music Week and Black Music, and in 1976 co-founded Dub Vendor with John MacGillivray. By 1978 he was involved in record production, most notably for photographer Dave Hendley’s Cruise label, and in 1980 Lane and MacGillivray launched Fashion Records. Known as the Dub Organizer because of the dub plates he cut at King Tubby’s studio and the Black Ark in the 70s, Chris is a renowned selector too.

Noel Hawks began working for Dub Vendor in 1979 and was naturally involved in Fashion Records too. In fact, he took the photographs for some of Fashion’s biggest picture sleeves, as noted in the Covers book. The author of Bunny Lee’s official biography and the book Complete Lyrics Of Bob Marley : Songs Of Freedom, as the scribe behind countless liner notes, Noel is also a keen selector.

Expect rare tunes galore and appealing floor-fillers, delivered with equal passion.
