In response to the recent communique sent out by a member of the Nyahbinghi community in Shashemene, with regard to the threatened destruction of the Nyahbinghi tabernacle, we the NNC (ET) wish to make a few brief points:
1. The problem is an ongoing one, from the days of the Ancient Bongo Rocky. At that time the dawtas quarters was dismantled and the perimeter of the tabernacle site was moved in to where it currently stands today.
2. The area in question for the proposed road is a 30m span. That span cuts into the tabernacle by 13m and local authorities from Kebele 0.1, have indicated that area will be lost to the road.
3. They did come on December 25, 2016, behaving in a manner, seemingly intent on dismantling the work that was going on. Through dialogue, that was averted. In subsequent meetings with the City Administration’s Construction Bureau Manager, she assured us that as long as we did no more work, we would not be disturbed. She sent the Nyahbinghi representatives back to the Town Planning Department to speak to the manager there and seek a resolution to the situation. We intend to do this when the offices open after the Genna festivities.
4. In addition, NNC (ET) has written seeking the involvement of the Ethiopian World Federation Inc. Shashemene Branch, in addressing this matter as a land grant issue. We therefore urge, all concerned parties to hold off on any agitated form of protest, as we would like you to understand our position here is tenuous, to say the least. We need to be sensitive in our approach when dealing with local authorities especially on land issues. Optimistically, we pray for a conclusion that is satisfactory to all parties.

JAH be merciful unto us and bless us; cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise Thee O JAH, let all the people praise Thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for Thou shalt judge the people righteously and govern the nations upon earth, Selah. Let the people praise thee, O JAH; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and Haile Selassie I even InI own Haile Selassie I shall bless us. He shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear HIM. (Psalm 67).
