The Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA) X is the region’s largest cultural show and will see the participation of over 20 countries. The Festival was first staged in Guyana in 1972 and has returned to Guyana after 36 years.
In July 1997 a 10-day Binghi was organized for the first time on the South American mainland in Guyana.
