To honor the coronation of Emperor Haile Sellassie I and Empress Menen of November 2, 1930, the following excerpt from the book “The Biography of Empress Menen, The Mother of the Ethiopian Nation” is offered here.
What a memorable day and night it was at the Nyabinghi Tabernacle Center in Shashemene when the community gathered to observe and Ilebrate the birth of Empress Menen on Thursday April 3rd 2014.
It turns out that a large portion of the original biography that I received from Abey Chanie was taken from a book published in 1950 (1958) to honor Empress Menen’s 67th birthday, which is now widely available on the Internet. This book was entitled Empress Menen, The Wife to His Imperial Majesty Haile Sellassie I, King of Kings of Ethiopia, Memorial for Empress Menen Asfaw’s Birthday.
“Empress Itegue Menen Asfaw was born in the year of Mercy 1883, 25 Megabit. 25 Megabit is April 3rd in western calendar.”
