The following is a release of the Bath City Council relating to the questionable future of The Fairfield House in Bath:
BANES STATEMENT The House was donated to Bath Corporation by the Emperor Haile Selassie, in recognition of the friendship shown to the emperor during his time in exile in Bath. There was a wish that it could be used as a home for elderly persons.
The house was used for this purpose until the 1990s when the requirements for increased room sizes for care homes meant that the premises were unsuitable to continue with this use.
There are currently no plans for the future of Fairfield House but like all local authorities , the Council is required to review the ongoing performance of its operational estate.
